We think the best way to do that is to develop a fleet of lifeboats – local, grassroots, human-scaled resilience networks working together for mutual support.
The Lifeboat Academy at Spalding Valley Farm offers both on-site and online opportunities to learn skills and get support for building your lifeboat.
Lifeboat Builder Cohort is a fit for you if…
- You’re actively building (or committed to building) a small lifeboat: a project, place, practice, or local node.
- You want structure, companionship, and scaffolding — not formulas or prescriptive systems.
- You resonate with pattern language and want help applying it to your context.
- You’re ready to bring your project into a supportive circle of peers and learn from mutual reflection.
- You want to explore governance, stewardship, reciprocity, and transition economics in tangible ways.
- You’re tired of building alone and crave a guild-like support system.
- You want accountability that feels human, not punitive.
The cohort is not a fit if:
- You’re not ready to commit attention or energy
- You want fast growth or a “scaling plan”
- You’re seeking personal branding or audience-building training
- You’re resistant to feedback, companionship, or iterative process
